Mary McCormick bio:
Ms. Mary McCormick is currently working towards her Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) through Santa Clara University's ExCEL Program and will be graduating this June, 2018. At that time, she will also have completed her third year of teaching as a middle school science teacher in Santa Clara, CA. Ms. McCormick has also worked with other teachers part-time as an Academy of Blended Learning (ABL) assistant.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. McCormick completed her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Anthropology with a minor in Biology in the Honors Program at the University of San Diego in 2011. She worked in Raymond, ME, for a several years for the Raymond Waterways Protective Association, rising from Boat Inspector, to Boat Captain, and ultimately to the Acting Director of the Association. In that role, she prepared and delivered numerous educational presentations to local groups. She then returned to San Diego to work for an animal rescue organization and a private zoo, where she also participated in a variety of education outreach programs. Her love for animals and educating others eventually led her to two years as a Veterinary Technician. She was admitted to the Excel Program at Santa Clara University in the spring of 2015 and has loved teaching ever since!
